posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The "Usagi Special Birthday Party" event each year on June 30 brings about a host of announcements for the Sailor Moon franchise, and this year is no exception. In addition to new information about the upcoming two-part film project Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Eternal The MOVIE, and the news of the manga getting a digital release worldwide in 10 languages, Toei announced many other new events and collaborations for the franchise on Sunday.
Ice Show
First and foremost is a new ice show starring none other than famous anime- and manga-loving ice skater Evgenia Medvedeva. Medvedeva has dressed up in Sailor Moon cosplay before for ice skating events, so her love for the franchise is well known. Her comment on being chosen for the show is in English in the video below.
The ice show will be the first one in the franchise, and will be held in June 2020.
UNIQLO Collaboration
UNIQLO often partners with famous anime and manga franchises for T-shirt lines, and to commemorate the new digital release of the manga, UNIQLO will offer a new line of Sailor Moon T-shirts in 26 countries starting in late August. Check out some of the designs in the gallery below.
Samantha Thavasa Collaboration
This fall Sailor Moon will partner with Japanese luxury fashion house Samantha Thavasa. The collaboration items will be available at Samantha Thavasa stores worldwide, and online. The collaboration is with the main fashion brand and its individual lines such as Samantha Vega, Samantha Thavasa Petit Choice, and Samantha Tiara.
New Café
Following the popularity and success of the Sailor Moon cafés in 2017, a new "Girls Night Out Sailor Moon Café 2019" will open in October with the concept of a "Girls Night Out."
Music History Event
Celebrating the 45th anniversary of musician Akiko Kosaka, the franchise will hold a "Akiko Kosaka 45th Anniversary Commemoration Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Music History Supported by Pretty Guardians" event on November 9 and 10 at Harajuku Quest Hall in Tokyo.
The first day of the event will focus on piano performances and talk events, and the second day will focus on band performances. The lineup of musicians and actors for the first day's event includes: Akiko Kosaka, ANZA, Hisano Akamine, Misako Iwana, Emi Kuriyama, Meiko Miyazawa, Sanae Kimura, Hikari Ono, Sakoto Yoshioka, and Yūta Mochizuki.
The lineup for the second day's event includes: Akiko Kosaka, ANZA, Hisano Akamine, Misako Iwana, Emi Kuriyama, Meiko Miyzakawa, Yūko Hosaka, Sanae Kimura, Yuhka Asami, Mao Mita, Tamaki Shirai, Yūta Mochizuki, Ryuji Kasahara, Hikari Ono, and Momoko Okuyama
