Actress, Singer Rina Kawaei Announces Marriage, Pregnancy

Actress, singer, and former AKB48 A-Team member Rina Kawaei announced both her marriage and pregnancy on Friday. The 24-year-old Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us voice actress married fellow actor Tomoki Hirose and they are expecting their first child. The pair married after about six months of dating and are expected to submit their marriage registration soon.

Kawaei and Hirose wrote in their announcement that they are expecting their first child by the end of the year. Kawaei will continue working as long as her physical condition permits it.

Kawaei met the 32-year-old Hirose on the set of the romantic drama Karephone last October. Kawaei played a temporary office worker and Hirose was her lover that had died two years prior to the show's events. The two noticed real chemistry as they played opposite one another on the show. The couple also apologized to fans for not revealing the news until now.

Kawaei starred as Risa in last year's Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us and will voice the lead Hinako Mukaimizu in Masaaki Yuasa's upcoming film Ride Your Wave (Kimi to, Nami ni Noretara) anime film.

Hirose has appeared in the live-action film adaptations of Tsumasaki no Uchū (Yū), Touken Ranbu (Uguisu Maru), Seven Days (Touji), and the Yowamushi Pedal and Ace of Diamond stage plays (Yūsuke Makishima and Satoru Furuya).
