Yu Yu Hakushō, Monster Strike Collaboration Gets New Commercials
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
A new series of commercials featuring the collaboration between anime Yū Yū Hakusho and mobile game Monster Strike began airing in Japan on Tuesday. Famous Japanese comedian Naoki Matayoshi appeared in the previous commercial as Elder Toguro. The new commercials add Elder Sister Toguro played by comedian Oniyakko Tsubaki, Mother Toguro played by Hisako Manda, Father Toguro played by Jun Miura, and Uncle Toguro played by Hajime Anzai.
The actors appear on the shoulders of younger Toguro. The statue isn't just a commercial prop, the life-size top half is a touring display. It was first shown outside of Laforet in Harajuku, Tokyo last year.
The second wave of the in-game promotional event is running from May 2 to May 16. Yū Yū Hakusho characters are available in the game. In addition to the crossover ads, the collaboration is streaming full episodes of Yū Yū Hakusho for free during the campaign period.
The campaign website features a page that gives users a chance to go inside the Toguro home and meet different members of the family. Family members include creatures such as a giraffe, serval, and otter. The family members then appear in a special image with the younger Toguro.
The first wave of the campaign, which ran from April 27 to May 1, let users unlock in-game collaboration items such as Staminamin and Orbs. Participants also had a chance to receive special prizes and collaboration items.
