Kazuhiko Shimamoto Releases Sequel to Shin Godzilla Dōjinshi
posted on by Eric Stimson
At this summer's Comiket, manga artist Kazuhiko Shimamoto (Honō no Tenkōsei, Moeyo Pen, Aoi Honō) stole the show with his "ridiculous" dōjinshi "Anno vs. Honō." Shimamoto knew Hideaki Anno in his college days at the Osaka University of Arts and sees him as a rival; therefore, upon seeing Anno's film Shin Godzilla, he tweeted that it was his "loss." The manga covers his dejected reaction to Shin Godzilla in more detail.
This season, Shimamoto is back with a follow-up, "The Tweets of Anno vs. Honō." He'd been working hard since August to get the two-part manga finished in time, which he successfully pulled off.
Yuri!!! on Ice fans should also be interested in the 50-page "Shimayuri!! on Fire," another dōjinshi produced by Urashimamoto, Shimamoto's dōjin circle. The circle will be in East 7 Hall, a-17a on December 31.
