posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official website for Yuki Yuna Is a Hero announced on Tuesday that the anime series is launching a collaborative project with the city of Kan'onji, Kagawa. The city served as the anime's setting.
The first part of the project, "Sanshū Chūgaku Bunkasai in Kan'onji-shi" (Sanshū Junior High Culture Festival in Kan'onji), will be held on February 5 at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The anime's five main cast member will participate in a talk event and live performance. The "Mankai Matsuri 2" (Full Moon Festival 2) event first announced the event on November 13.
The collaboration is creating posters of famous places in Kan'onji that Yuna and her friends visit in the anime. The posters will feature new illustrations of seven places and hang in various locations around the city. Life-size cutout panels of the seven main characters will also appear around the city.
Fans that travel around Kan'onji and complete a collection of stamps will receive limited-edition merchandise for the anime. The fifth and final planned part of the collaboration will create a map of locations that appear in the anime series.
The anime, which adapts author Takahiro and illustrator BUNBUN's illustrated novel series Washio Sumi wa Yūsha de Aru (Washio Sumi is a Hero), will get a sequel series in 2017.
The anime's first half (six episodes) will adapt Washio Sumi wa Yūsha de Aru and will be titled Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter). This part of the anime will first have theatrical screenings in March 2017 before it airs on television. The second half of the anime is a direct sequel to the first season, and is titled Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Yūsha no Shō (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Hero Chapter).
