Love Guru Looks to Make Comiket Connections Safer with Free Condom Distribution

This year's winter Comic Market 91 is right around the corner where collectors, dōjin artists, and industry professionals will make a mass exodus to Tokyo Big Sight from December 29-31. Visitors bring out their wallets to take home all the goods of their self-proclaimed waifu, but others also use the event as the opportunity to make a love connection in the 3D world.
The official Twitter account for Ueno-san, a gentlemanly love advice guru on social media that works as a staff member at a love hotel announced that he will participate at Comiket on December 30. Ueno-san will hand out free condoms and also sell copies of the second volume of the Rabuho no Ueno-san no Ren'ai Sōdan (Love Hotel Ueno-san's Love Consultations) book series. Ueno will have about 1,000 condoms to give out. He also added that approximately 5,000 are used each month in love hotels.
You can check out Ueno's Twitter account for other interesting factoids. For instance, the top three beverages sold at love hotels are Lipovitan D, Red Bull, and Monster energy drinks. He adds that he'll "leave it up to [readers'] imagination" as to why these are popular.
Ueno's stories of love advice centering around a love hotel first began as a manga with art by boys-love mangaka Hakase. The manga version launched in 2014 and runs in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Flapper magazine. It also inspired a live-action drama streaming on Fuji TV On Demand titled Rabuho no Ueno-san ~Love Concierge~ starring Kanata Hongou as the titular character. The show premiered on December 1 on the streaming service and then will air terrestrially next month.
