Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions Holds 2nd, 3rd Dub Voice-Over Contests This Month
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
People who want to try their hand in the dueling arena of voice acting will have two more chances this month to become extras in the English version of the Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions film. 4K Media will hold its second audition contest at New York Comic Con on October 8 and October 9. The third and final contest will also be held in Minneapolis later this month.
The contest will be held at the Javits Convention Center's New York Room 1E01 in Manhattan. The audition will accept up to the first 100 people to register each day, and people must be eight years of age or older to participate. The context will take place on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Fans can audition for one of two extra voice-over roles in the film. 4K Media will judge auditions on overall sound quality, uniqueness, appropriateness of voice to the character, and creative execution. Two winners will each get a spoken line in the North American version of the film, and their names will appear in the credits.
The first audition was held at the 2016 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game World Championship. The contest took place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando on August 20 and August 21.
The Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions film opened in Japan on April 23 and will open outside of Japan in early 2017. Satoshi Kuwabara (Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal II) directed the film.
The film opened on 137 screens in Japan, ranking #6 and selling 92,396 tickets for 133,010,600 yen (about US$1.2 million) in its first weekend. The film earned over 800 million yen (about US$7.5 million) in total.
