The nostalgia for the original Pokémon generation of games is reaching ever higher this year. The 20th anniversary kicked off with celebrity-hosted parties, fan events, and apps. Pokémon Red & Blue 3DS bundles and Nendoroids were also announced.
Nanoblock is the smallest building block toy. Created by Kawada Co., the intricate blocks are a great tool for translating pixels into 3D models. The company has done just that, creating four monotone Pokémon sets of the original starters (Charizard, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Pikachu from Pokémon Yellow).
Each of the four sets comes with extra blocks that can be combined to create Mew. They also bundle individual passwords that must be entered to download the Mew building instructions.
Each of the monotone sets casts 1,600 yen (US$14) and are a two-block (out of four) difficulty.
Nanoblocks released other, color sets of the original 151, including the starters, Eevee, Mewtwo, Gengar, Charizard, Lapras, Caterpie, Dragonite, Snorlax, and Farfetch'd.
