The planned 60-meter (about 200-feet) Colossal Titan projection from Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga and anime will stream live via niconico early Thursday morning for those in US time zones. The event marks 30 million Attack on Titan manga in circulation.
The special program will stream live from Kanagawa Lazona Kawasaki Plaza with guest appearances by Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman) and Yū Kobayashi (Sasha Braus) with host Naoki Yoshida. The projection event will be held again Friday and Saturday evenings. During the light show, 3D projections of characters Eren and Mikasa will attack the Titan.
Ryōtarō Muramatsu and Naked Inc. also created similar shows for the Tokyo Hibari Vision 3D projection mapping at Tokyo Station and the Karakuri projection mapping for Tokyo National Museum's special Kyoto exhibition.
Isayama himself commented on the project, saying, “I'm looking forward to seeing a life-size Colossal Titan. I hope to get good effects and bring it to life from my manga!”
Niconico is also streaming a special event featuring Yūki Kaji (Eren Jaeger), Yui Ishikawa, and Yū Kobayashi in promotion of the May 3 Real Escape game.
