An official website for the television anime adaptation of Kagari Tamaoka's Mangirl! manga launched on Saturday and revealed the main cast and staff. Kanako Miyamoto (Eureka 7: Astral Ocean's Naru Arata, Fuse Teppō Musume no Torimonochō's Meido) will star as naive manga editor-in-chief Hana Sasayama.
The revealed cast is as follows:
- Kanako Miyamoto as Hana Sasayama
- Yuri Komagata as Aki Torii
- Moemi Otaka as Tsugumi Haraki
- Ayaka Ōhashi as Ringo Nishijima
- Ai Kayano as Shinobu Fujimori
- Ayana Taketatsu as Sayuri Misono
- Eri Kitamura as Hikari Ayano

The website also revealed that Nobuaki Nakanishi (Shin Koihime Musō, Kasimasi - Girl Meets Girl) is directing at the studio Dogakobo. Masahiro Yokotani (Maria Holic Alive, Steins;Gate) and Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Bakuman.) are writing the script. Yoshida is also in charge of series composition, and Shinya Ojiri (Yuruyuri♪♪) is serving as animation director.
Voice actresses Miyamoto, Komagata, Moemi, and Ohashi are also performing the theme song "girl meets DEADLINE" under the group name M@N☆GIRL!.
The original four-panel manga follows the daily life of Hana and "Japan's cutest manga editors" as they attempt to realize their dream of launching the #1 manga magazine — even though they have zero experience in actually editing manga.
Yasu (Joshiraku, Toradora!) created the original character designs for the manga, which was originally titled Sōkan! Comic Earth Star Henshū-bu (Launch! Comic Earth Star Editors) when it debuted in Earth Star Entertainment's Monthly Comic Earth Star magazine. The second compiled book volume will ship in Japan on January 12.
The anime will premiere in Japan on January 2.
