posted on by Gia Manry
Japanese pop star Jin Akanishi, formerly of the boy band KAT-TUN, announced on Sunday that he will collaborate with singer-songwriter Jason Derülo and producer J.R. Rotem (Rihanna's "SOS", Lil' Kim's "Whoa") to release a music album in the United States. The album is scheduled for release this fall and will feature a song written by Derülo.
Warner Music Group and Warner Music Japan signed Akanishi globally in December, and they will handle the release of both his English and Japanese albums. Last year, Akanishi held an American concert tour and then added more cities to the tour.
Akanishi starred in the live-action drama adaptation of Yukari Ichijo's manga Yukan Club, which featured the KAT-TUN single "Keep the Faith" as its theme song. Akanishi also starred in the second season of the live-action adaptation of Kozueko Morimoto's manga Gokusen. His voice acting debut was as the title role in the Japanese-language dub of the 2008 Warner Brothers film Speed Racer. KAT-TUN contributed theme songs to the live-action drama adaptations of Tadashi Agi's wine manga Kami no Shizuku (Les Gouttes de Dieu) and Tomoko Hayakawa's manga Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge (known as The Wallflower in North America).
