Type-Moon Establishes New Game Studio Under Director Kazuya Nino
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Game and story development circle Type-Moon announced on Friday that it has established a new game studio named "Type-Moon studio BB," with former Square Enix game developer Kazuya Nino as the studio director. Nino commented that the studio will focus on developing small-scale 2D games, and will develop mid- to large-scale 3D games in collaboration with other companies.
The studio is now hiring programmers, art designers, game designers, and project managers.
Nino recently announced last week that he has left Square Enix. He worked for the company for seven years, and was the director and scenario writer for the Dragon Quest Builders games. He was the producer for Fate/Extra, a spinoff of Type-Moon's Fate franchise, and also worked on the first Etrian Odyssey game.
Type-Moon is a label of the Notes company, but began in 1999 as an independent dōjin novel and game circle with writer Kinoko Nasu and artist Takashi Takeuchi. The pair went on to develop the Tsukihime visual novel, as well as the Fate/stay night visual novel. Both have inspired multiple spinoffs in manga, novels, anime, games, and other mediums. The pair are also notable for The Garden of Sinners novel, published before Type-Moon's founding, and inspiring a series of anime films of the same name.
