 Making their way to safety following an epic battle at KAIYAN WANG's hidden temple, PAI and YAKUMO begin to ponder the inevitability of their growing attraction for each other. Thus occupied, the star-crossed lovers fail to notice the appearance of a new menace until it is almost too late.
 Under the protection of the mysterious MADAM HOAN, the group try, but fail, to unravel the mysteries of the "Statue of Humanity".
 in an attempt to destroy PAI, BENARES, one of KAIYAN WANG's most powerful disciples, possesses the rotting carcass of PAI's feathered familiar TAKUMI and gains mind-control of their new ally MEISHIN.
 Realizing that there is no other choice but to face her demons, both real and imagined, PAI calls upon the inner strength of her immortal alter ego. One last psychic battle... to the death!
 But YAKUMO does not like the odds. Unwilling to let her face this danger alone, the valiant youth races against time to aid his endangered love. If they cannot survive this final challenge, then at least Yakumo hopes they will be able to face death together.
 The bittersweet conclusion of the first series of animated adaptations of YUZO TAKADA's ongoing popular manga.
