In episode 23 of the dub, when Nana O. is talking to Yasu, she makes a reference to Joan Jett song, "Bad Reputation."
A reference to Miyazaki's film Pom Poko is made in episode 40 when Nana pictures a fox in her head. (5:40) A racoon can be seen in the image as well.
- In episode 44, when Nobu is looking at a list of rock bands the name Mongorian Chop Squad can be clearly seen above the name Trapnest. Mongorian Chop Squad refers to BECK another rock band story anime.
