Became the basis for Tim Eldred's webcomic series "Star Blazers: Rebirth", even at the time the anime project wasn't yet completed.
The Earth Federation's flagship in this movie carries the name "Blue Noah", which is also the name of the protagonal ship of "Space Carrier Blue Noah", another Anime created by "Space Battleship Yamato" creator Yoshinobu Nishizaki.
Despite Leiji Matsumoto's uninvolvement in making this movie, its director's cut marks not only the first appearance of the Yukikaze's ship class since the first Space Battleship Yamato T.V. series, but also the first appeararnce of the Andromeda-Class battleship since "Space Battleship Yamato 2".
The director's cut of this film marks the debut of the Yamato-like space battleship Musashi, which first appeared in Makoto Kobayashi's "Hyperweapon 2011" art magazine. However, Kobayashi 's work on the Space Battleship Musashi began way back in the 1990s during development of the movie itself (but a backstory for the ship itself is only told in a booklet for the "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" Complete Box).
