This movie has the most nudity in a Lupin show.
Goof: Fujiko's arm disappears for a split second when she tries to get answers from Lupin at the file room at the police station. This mistake was fixed on the Blu-ray edition.
This anime was the only English dub roles for Elly King, John Donovan, & Julio Cedillo.
According to Chris Sabat, the Streamline English dub of Castle of Cagliostro was the inspiration for the English voices of the primary characters in the English dub of this TV Special and the other English dubs of the Lupin TV specials and the 90's theatrical movies released by Funimation. This explains why Jigen addressed Lupin as "boss" in the Funimation English dubs as he address him as "boss" in the Streamline English dubs as well. This is a title that was never used in the Japanese versions as Jigen always views Lupin as his partner in crime/equal but never as his superior.
Because of the amount of nudity in this TV special, FUNimation created an edited version of the TV special out of concerns that some buyers would be offended by the content. The edited version had a majority of the nudity removed or censored by having the shots zoomed in or digitally adding pieces of clothing. Most of the profanity and violence was also altered or removed. Both the edited version & the full uncut version was made available on VHS & DVD. When FUNimation later re-released Twilight Gemini as part of the "First Haul" box set, they accidentally issued it with the edited version. An uncut copy replacement was made available to those who had purchased the edited version, and the mistake was corrected in later releases. When Discotek licensed the TV special, both the uncut and censored versions were made available on Blu-ray.
The final Lupin III anime to be released on VHS in the USA.
The first Lupin III TV special to not use the 1989 Lupin theme for the opening.
Despite the official artwork used for publicity and home video releases depict Lupin wearing his red jacket. He in fact wore a white jacket in more scenes than his usual red jacket.
Goemon doesn’t appear until 46 minutes 46 seconds within the TV special.
