Despite being overshadowed in popularity by Kamen Rider in Japan, Kikaida has an unusually large fan following in Hawaii. As a matter of fact, actors Daisuke Ban (Kikaida/Jiro) and Shunsuke Ikeda (Kikaida-01/Ichiro) have frequented nearly every Kikaida convention held in the state.
Star Wars creator George Lucas mentioned in an interview that the villain Hakaider was the basis of the film franchise's most prominent character, Darth Vader.
Kikaider was the first Japanese superhero show to feature "saftey bumps", warning impressionable viewers not to imitate the dangerous stunts shown on the show.
