There's an image being widely circulated and endorsed on 2chan that is claimed to be a scan of the article.

It states that the voice actors are:

Wasabi MIZUTA as Doraemon
Megumi OOHARA as Nobita
Tomokazu SEKI as Suneo
Yumi KAKAZU as Shizuka-chan
Subaru KIMURA (14 years old?) as Gian

This could be true, or the scan could be a doctored hoax.

When I first spotted this photo 30 hours ago, I couldn't even Google out a single page with all five seiyuu's names together (in Japanese). Right now there are ~240 pages.

I'd say it's confirmed by now.

Wow...

1. Shizuka looks hot. (The seiyuu! The seiyuu!)

2. I sure hope Ms. Mizuta can replicate that raspy, Bryan-Adams-as-an-old-lady sound that we love and grew up with.

I agree with you, Shizuka's seiyuu is cute as hell. She's 31...I swear they switched the ages. Oh well, it's still not like we're going to get Doraemon here in the states Anime cry

Hmm, does anyone know if being in a series as large as this would limit the VAs to only this series? Im not really sure how time consuming episodes are for the VAs. Tomokazu Seki is one of my favorite VAs and I would hope that this doesnt mean he wont be taking on other roles in the future.

I'd have to say no. While Nobuyo Oyama (Doraemon) has essentially done nothing but Doraemon since 1979, Nobita's VA, Noriko Ohara, was the lead character in Future Boy Conan and played important parts in Urusei Yatsura, Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Space Pirate Captain Harlock and other shows.

Obviously Doraemon is a big time commitment, so it depends on how much the actor wants to work.

Since Tomokazu Seki will be playing the part of Suneo, which requires less involvement that the two lead parts, and he's been such a prolific actor in the past, I think its quite possible that he'd continue to work on other shows.

Of course, perhaps he chose the Doraemon job because he wanted something long-term steady so that he could settle down a bit, but that's just speculation...

I haven't heard of Doremon when I was a child so I don't understand the fan base. After college I've understood a little about Doremon.

I wish it could be released in the states. The Taiwanese love Doremon and they have the show every day. I try and watch it. I like it.

I'm guessing that the Simpsons has the same effect in the States like Doremon has in Japan.

Not at all. I think it's more often for them to start the seiyuu schools at that age, maybe. How amazing that this 14 year old got the role! He doesn't look that young, but then again my friend looked 20 when he was 14...

I remember it was shocking to hear how young Sakamoto Maaya was when she was Hitomi in Escaflowne, and she was still like 17-18 I think?

So 14... sheesh. o_o;

All I know about Wasabi Mizuta is that I remember her role as Kintarou in Otogizoushi and anybody who watched that show would want to die because he had such an annoying voice. But I suppose it was on purpose and it probably sounds realistic.

Wasabi Mizuta also voices T.J. in the Japanese dub of Disney's Recess, BTW.

Mizuta, Seki and Kakazu are industry veterans, however this is the first voice acting role for 14-year-old Subaru Kimura.

Now, if this guy was doing something like, oh, say a character in the English dub of Full Metal Alchemist, he would be criticized for being inexperienced and sounding too flat. However, because he is in the original Japanese dub of an anime, he can now do no wrong. Just an observation.

Absolutely No. It is quite rare case. I have not heard same case but for "Sen-to-chihiro". Boh-chan in the movie acted by almost 10 years boy (but he is not a voice actor).

I think Doraemon staff selected VAs to change Draemon image completely. In fact most Japanese do not know new VAs in the animation. Seki is famous, but only for VA fans.

P.S. Most would-be voice actors are about 18-20 years old in Japan. 14 is quite early.
