the Kodocha set will be around 25-26 dvds if they keep to a 4 episode per disc count.

Finally, the Tenchi Muyo OVA 3 is finally being released. Man, this is so sweet and three episodes on the first DVD to boot ... I can't wait ... Wink

Knowing Funmation, it'll probably be 3 per dvd.

Nope. ANN says it's 4, unless they're really long episodes. An ideal number would be 6 because it divides evenly with 102 (17, for those of you scoring at home) but that ain't gonna happen.

Well, for those of us who didn't watch a fansubbed OVA 3, this Tenchi release will be a defining moment. Four questions will be answered (for those of us who didn't watch it fansubbed)

1-Is the series any good to make it worth the effort of 6 new episodes?

2-Will the dub cast be the same as used in the GXP cameo?

3-No matter what the answer to 2 is, will the new dub cast live up to the bar that the old Pioneer troupe set (which was pretty darn high, last time I checked)

4-And just why is someone named Kiyone in this series? I mean, the TV and OVA Kagatoes had some correlation (I broke out the dictionary for that spelling.) but as far as I can remember, there's no common ground between the OVA Kiyone and the Non-OVA Kiyone [/rant]

Most of the characters are named after villages and towns in Okayama prefecture, and the character named "Kiyone" in the new OVA series is the character Masaki Kajishima had always planned on calling "Kiyone", even though Naoko Hasegawa had usurped the name for a character of her creation in her alternate timeline, the Galaxy Police officer we all know and love. (I think that Kiyone appeared in one of the Hasegawa novels before even the Mihoshi Special.)

It's a shame *that* Kiyone won't likely ever show up in the official OVA timeline, because she is my favourite character.

Although that one does more or less exist as a different character, with the same history and a better backstory.

Going by mere surface appearances, yes. Wink
But they're not really comparable with each other when you dig deeper...

Yikes. Kodocha is really going to break my bank isn't it? Shocked Not to mention if it really does end up being 26 or so DVDs that they'll have to release multiple boxsets.

Then again, I'm already collecting the Lupin the 3rd TV series, and that's 155 episodes... so what am I bellyachin' about? Me and my love of long series.

Kodocha will be interesting, I don't know if I'll buy the series or not, but I'd like to see how the dub team is going to handle the series, especially Sana with her insanely fast talking Wink

As far as the Tenchi OVA is concerned, I saw the first two episodes fansubbed before it was licenced so I know I'll be getting the DVDs, however, if Funi uses their VAs from the GXP cameo I'll be watching it subbed, because I didn't really care for any of the new voices...

It will be interesting won't it Wink ? I'm curious about how her little random raps will be translated. Wow, 26 dvds though...FUNI really should make some kind of special deal.

I think I found a more sensible explanation as why *that* Kiyone isn't in the OVA's. First, I need to find a scanner...

I'm willing to bet that this isn't the first time we Kiyone-pined together.

Detective first Class Kiyone will never appear in the OVA. But this "new Kiyone" was in the first OVA. You just didn't recognise her because of a translation error. Wink

According to the encyclopedia, Laura Bailey will be voicing Sana-chan. She was also Tohru in Fruits Basket and Young Trunks in DBZ. I've only seen a bit of Fruits Basket, but from what I remember, her voice could match Sana's pretty well. I'm just worried that Sana's rapid-fire dialogue won't sound right in English.
