Actually, PMX's founder mentioned this possibility last August:
Quote:
AnimeFEST, which is known for its J-Pop concerts, is also on Labor Day weekend. Are you worried about splitting attendance again like you did with Fanime this year?

We have been doing surveys and polls and the unanimous request is that we move to Labor Day weekend. Fanime was unusual because NorCal and SoCal feed off each other so strongly for attendees.

However, the #1 complaint we got from our core Los Angeles market was that the weekend was bad due to graduations and proms. For this reason, we wanted to move off of the school year and further into summer vacation. We are concerned about the music overlap with AnimeFEST, and we have great respect for them as one of the groundbreakers in the music market. We hope that there is a possibility that we could arrange for split musical artists, just like we did with Fanime this year.

Like I said, I'm cheap. If I worked, I still probably wouldn't go. If I were filthy rich, then you'd probably see me there dressed as Aoshi or Kakashi, but no, I won't be there. Sorry.

I've never been to a con and have no future plans to attend any. You guys will never see my face Razz.

Slight error in your info there: the concert will be on *Sunday* night, not Friday, according to their email newsletter and their Guests page: http://animefest.org/AF2005/Guests.php

*Oof* I don't know how well that will fare. Most people leave early on Sunday, especially if they're traveling from out of town. Hope this doesn't put some crimps in people's travel plans.

Shouldn't be a problem; it's Labor Day weekend, and the con has some Monday events.

A-Kon hasn't announced yet who they have gotten for musical acts.
