Some people forget that the Japanese way of dealing with things is different from an American way. A lot of people would ignore it, but they decided he should remove himself from Twitter.

Wonder if there is more to it than that. Seems like a weird thing, but then again, if they are posting false pictures on his Twitter site, maybe fans will think it is him.

I actually wonder if leaving twitter like this is part of some type of larger anti-Streisand effect strategy.

That is instead of bringing focus to the controversy by either engaging it publicly, or ignoring it publicly and pursing legal action, you cut off all the oxygen to the controversy by disappearing from the public sphere.

I would assume that doing this would also result in lower SEO for your name as a keyword, and thus the things you are wanting to suppress would slide down in search ranking as a result. Compound this with a strategy of low profile legal action, you might be able to get things cleaned up with out causing a public flare up, and avoid the Streisand effect.

Every time there's Bleach news, its not about the anime returning. I'm sure certain people are disappointed. Anyway, hope the situation gets resolved.

Maybe he doesn't have some nasty scandal to hide, maybe he just doesn't want to deal with social media.

With something as big a Bleach to his name, I doubt he really needs it for marketing.

This is one of the areas where the Japanese way has something to it vs the American way. In the U.S., wanting to be private is considered an infringement on others' first amendment right to trash-talk you. It's considered cowardly not to vomit every passing thought onto twitter, and the only reason you'd pass up that glorious opportunity is if you have something nasty to hide. Well, not everyone wants to live like that, and anyone anywhere has a right to refrain from that. It says more about you than them if you assume there's a scandal.

From what I hear, Kubo keeps getting Twitter responses from people who openly declare they read or watch Bleach through non-legal means. Naturally, this annoys him greatly.

It's very unusual for an active Twitter user to just disappear without warning...

Perhaps Mr. Kubo just wants to give Tweeting a rest for a bit?

Maybe Shueshia wants him to focus on finishing Bleach before the volume sales drop even further.

Some 20+ years ago, after a horrifying experience with a Proto - Social Media App, I swore a mighty oath to never have anything to do with that type of Application unless it was required of me by my work. So far that exception has only been invoked once and I'm free & clear of the worst of that mess.

Maybe Kubo-sensei just had gotten enough of it, especially when the company lawyers came riding in. I don't blame him for putting it aside, not at all.
