From the segments I've seen of both, I'm leaning in favor of FMA. SAC reminds me of Aeon Flux, in terms of presentation. Plus the writing on SAC is closer to Shirow's approach, and I really don't like Shirow's style of writing. Oshii gets right to the point. Anyway, I just hope FMA doesn't become another misfire like Conan, or FUNimation won't be licensing anything big in the future.

With all of the hype surrounding FMA, I'm shocked that GITS beat it out. But it's only one week; I'm pretty sure FMA will live up to the hype.

Well, the full Nielson numbers aren't out yet, so we don't know how much GitS beat FMA by.
Also, GitS didn't beat FMA in every demographic.
From what I've been told, FMA did quite well, beating GitS in several, primarilly female, demographics.
It may be possible that FMA's overall household share was higher, in which case I'll have to post a clarification, but I'll wait till the official ratings are out before doing that.

This and the already-known success of Stand-Alone Complex are all I really need to hear, personally. It seems like new anime on Cartoon Network's been a bit hit-or-miss lately, so it's good to see two shows that deserve to be recognised actually seeming to have done just that.

I can understand that you'd prefer Oshii to Shiro, but then even John Kerry is more direct than Shiro. Saying "Oshii gets right to the point" is a bit of an overstatement, especially when you consider the extent to which he drowned Innocence in totally unnecessary philosophical ramblings.

I'll take philosophical ramblings over techno-babble any day.

And in other news, complete and total douchebags who come on forums to make fun of websites instead of offering a correction and being nice about it will never know the touch of a woman and will die alone and unhappy!

You know Frankman, ANN's typically more than willing to admit when they report erroneous information (in fact, at this very moment, you'll notice a headline at the top of the front page that begins with "Errata"). There's absolutely no need to go on some childish campaign to rub it in.
Toboe, there's no need to make the situation worse by flaming him, either. It's a better idea to use the "Report Post" feature and alert the mods to it than to lower yourself to his level.

I wasn't aware that there was a contest going on. Does GITS get a gold star on the DVD case if it leads FMA for more than 2 consecutive weeks? Or does every FMA viewer get $3.50 in their paypal accounts every time Ed and Al outdraw the cyborgs by 10,000 or more.

1. While my post probably WAS a low blow, they're not wrong in their info. They just didn't show all the numbers. I just felt you need to get the info straight from the source. Also, I don't see any errata thing (because in reality they're not wrong
).

Moody much? Geez. I simply post the truth, and BTW that IS a correction of sorts. I showed the main demographic, so please do not get this topic locked by flaming. Thank you.

Didn't say it was tied to the ratings issue, just saying it was proof that ANN didn't need "hahahaha you kinda F'ed up" shoved down their throats like it's something they won't own up to.
