How many volumes does the anime cover? And would there be enough material to do a third final season?

Having not read or seen the series, but going off of what I have seen about other LN-based series, often an anime might cover up to 2-3 vol. of its LN source material. With that, I would say that there is enough for 3+ seasons.

The second season covered the rest of the main story. There are only the two side story volumes so we might get another OVA at best.

Wait, you mean that in 25 episodes (across 2 cours of 12 episodes each + an OVA), the anime had adapted 11 LNs? (LNs #6 and #10 are apparently short-stories compilation, according to the Japanese Wikipedia.) If that's true, then there must've been massive content cuts.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm not familiar with what content was cut, but both the second season and the final main novel end on the same point.

This ends the era of lolis, it was one of the best runs though. We won't have anything as good as this not with how the state of loli has become.

That seems a little weird they'd end it there, it looked like it was leading into another arc at that point. Ah well.

I think it's fine as a finale. The girls came together to finally play a full match and even though they lost in the first round, they were up against the top ranked team and it was a very close game (the novel further clarifies that all the other teams got destroyed by them). So Tomoka and the others can be proud of how far they've come.

Pretty much this.
We're getting a few adaptations of the bigger loli titles like Illya, but they are already very awkward about the lolis, and then after those titles have finished, I think it's done for good.

There are tons of high grade lolis and shows about them out there. That hasn't changed, even if there's less underaged fanservice these days.

We are talking about the underaged fanservice though.
And lolis are always secondary characters at best in non-lolicon series either ways (unless we talk about children's shows).
