I was repeating that ED animation for what seemed like hours after seeing it. Really fun animation and a catchy tune to boot. That it's attached to such a fun show is wonderful.

I just love the style of this show tbh. Gave me somewhat of a Cowboy Bebop vibe combined with its dark urban setting and refreshing humor.

Zapp's also such a boss.

Kinda curious how they will adapt the rest of this.

To say that this show started with a bang maybe an understatement. Even though I have had a blast watching the first two episodes, I can only give them an A grade, mainly because the story has not developed much.

And BBB is another reason to love Bones.

Well, this is the first show from Bones in last 5 years which I genuinely like. Hopefully they don't screw it up.

In complete, 100% agreement with this. Even among my favourite anime, I have never fell this head over heels for a show right from the get go. If it keeps up like this, I could be looking at a new favourite. The name Rie Matsumoto was already written in my book after the masterpiece that is Kyousougiga, and this just writes her name in bold. Everything here is near perfect for me, and the OST especially is phenomenal. My thumbs can't be high enough up.

Also, I too have spent several hours just replaying the ED. I mean the OP is great too, but that ED is so adorable and captures the mood of the show perfectly. It is just so dorky and cute.

Episodes #1-2:

Kekkai Sensen's first 2 episodes have a unique aura to them; they feel retro-futuristic and yet somehow quite contemporary. 10 minutes into Episode #1 and the viewer is already under sensory assault of sound and visual.

The animation itself its too impressive, similar style of animation is being used for at least two years now, but maybe this simplicity is what gives this show its charm; since there isn't a single element highlighted in the animation, one must look at it as a whole, giving the chance to soak all of KS' imagery and designs presented. Dirty sidewalks, sluggish pedestrians, high-rises, cars, interior. It's all detailed to the level of "if you've seen it before, you'll recognize it immediately"

The plot is also worth mentioning; after encountering a self-proclaimed god that gave the main character Leonard Watch and his sister Michella the option to choose who will gain an extreme rare (and coveted) eyesight, while the other will forfeit their's. After his sister, without second thought, screams that she will give her eyesight to her petrified brother, the story jumps 6 months ahead, with Leonard trying to make a living a photographer when a too-fast-to-see-by-humans monkey (aptly named Sonic Sonic) steals his camera. When Leonard gives chase, he is caught in an explosion caused by an alien, thrusting him literally to Zapp Renfro's feet, and serves as his entry to the secret organisation Libra, who fights to maintain order within the NYC's crumbling society. (Also, Libra is symbolized by the Scales [♎], and was based on Titaness Themis' role as the personification of law and order. Her name and appearance were remodeled in later times and became what is known today as Lady Justice, bringing us back around from the organisation Libra to Michella, Leonard's sister)

The show's musical choices thus far are both interesting and fitting their scenes, oddly enough. The OP transitions from calm to intense to calm, and the ED feels almost happy-go-lucky, with the Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu-esque animation to match. No emphasis on the horns, guitars, drums or the BWAHs. In other words, there isn't a Hans Zimmer or Sawano Hiroyuki here, but there are milder, calmer (maybe satirical?) sounds that aids in setting the scenes' tones.

Nightow Yasuhiro's Trigun elements do peak at times between the plot points, as is his other work Gungrave. I've enjoyed watching each of the two episodes so far, and I hope this feeling will remain for the rest of the episodes as well.

Blood Blockade Battlefront feels like somebody took the toonami anime I watched when I was in middle-school and perfected it. Enjoying it a lot.

While I haven't been impressed by anything narrative wise yet, animation and aesthetic wise I'm loving it. This is without a doubt my favorite looking show of the season so far (but I doubt it because there's not enough of Tri to prove me otherwise and I already don't like Ninja Slayer's neon coloring from the trailers.) The second episode really gave me Kyousogiga vibes with the camera shots used to show Zap stealing Leo's Pizza, a gag I'm not sure I would have really enjoyed without them.

Kyousogiga also had something like the ED in one of it's trailers, I say something because it's not them dancing it's just them in front of a red curtain on a stage doing various poses along to the music but all that is to say being reminded of that show is not a bad thing... entirely because Kyousogiga was stylish but also had a great story while- ok I'm repeating myself.

Since the staff introduced a character that's anime specific I can't help but wonder if this is going to have it's own story regardless of the manga. I usually would be against such things but this time I'll take it. I haven't read the manga myself but I have been informed of bad things and I want to like this show as much as possible.

First episode was awesome, second was a bit less. Having to spend the first third of the episode on a recap kinda took the wind out of it sail, I like show that just hit the ground running and expect the viewer to follow rather than just stop and re-explaining stuff we already know. But once it got past that it was back to being great.

I don't know about the music though that played in the fight scene of the second episode, it didn't have nearly enough energy to it and I think they should always use lyric less song during action sequence, but that might be just me.

Oh man, this is by far my favorite anime so far this spring season!

It almost makes up for no Digimon Tri. Almost -shakes fist into the distance-

But yeah, definitely going to look forward to this every week. I hope Funimation simul-dubs it as well - it would give me an excuse to re-watch episodes!

A friend of mine who read the manga told me it was boring, so I wasn't really bothered about the show. I'm glad I did watch it since it is pretty good.

Until seeing the Kuroneko cameo, I was unaware that this was based on one of Nightow's works. I've, uh, kind of fallen off the manga radar in recent years.

A+ !? The first episode was an OK introduction but the second one wasn't very interesting.

The chase scene soundtrack got me dancing on my feet, and so did the ending.
