Looks like an awesome toy but unfortunately, the TF franchise doesn't have a good history of proper scale accuracy. G1 is forgivable considering that it was multiple toylines merged into one by Hasbro, but later lines could have avoided that issue. For me it sucked when they depicted Team Bullet Train from RiD in the show towering RiD Prime only to find their toys being much MUCH smaller than him. Needless to say, it always bugged me seeing 7 meter tall Optimus Prime (G1) stand eye to eye with a Gundam in fanart despite the fact that the shortest Gundam, Victory, is 15 meters tall. I don't want to get this train bot and find it's only slightly taller but much thinner than my deluxe class Autobots.

I know TF is a super robot franchise, but just once can't they incorporate at least some real robot attributes in one of their future fictions?

Hm. Those colours just scream 'Autobot' to me. I think that it'll be that anyway, as Japan often portrays the bad guys as weird monsters not caring about disguise.

Just be thankful this isn't a fan poll. If it was, it'd be another unnessecarily complicated fembot with an independant personality. They're utterly fantastic (Windblade FTW), but too many of them and it goes crazy.

GaoGaiGar was also Takara. Brave was the franchise they worked on when Transformers fell out of popularity in Japan in the 90's.

Several Transformers toys was used and redecoed in the various Brave toylines even. Hell, the first series, Exkaiser had villains based on the Dinobots.

The only issue is that they made it with Sunrise on animation duties and Sunrise got kind of bought by Bandai. So it seems pretty much abandoned on their end to the point of Bandai making Soul Of Chogokin GaoGaiGar.

Man the mecha in that video is badass (gives me some Kawamori vibes). The toy ain't half bad either. And seeing as how i'm getting back into collecting me some transformers maybe I should see if I can get me one of these.

Less that and more Bandai just took over the merchandise side of things. Brave has a lot of stuff in Sunrise Crusade for instance, in addition to the SoC. Of course, assuming they wanted to do a new show again, they'd probably have to get Takara on board for it.

As for games and other stuff, Zoids got into Super Robot Wars, something people thought was outright impossible because unlike the Braves, Zoids is 100% pure Takara-Tomy.

The original Optimus Prime (G1) and the original Gundam were both designed by the same guy. They even look similar head feature wise if you have them standing back to back.

I do see the similarities, in fact, throughout my early days of watching Gundam Wing I wondered why the Gundams heads look similar to Optimus Prime's, but the RX-78-2 was designed by Kunio Okawara while Optimus Prime was designed by Shojo Kawamori
