I am a little confused as to what this is... is recruiting the right word? Sounds to me like it is just a cut-price tour. Unless the foreigners are meant to be doing something at the concert thing? That was the unclear part.

A token alien presence? Standing around looking gruff, giving off that foreigner vibe to liven it up? Laughing

I think they're hoping that by posting their experiences on their social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc), it'll help boost tourism and maybe enrollment at that university.

The concert is already sold out, and has been sold out for a while. I'm not entirely sure what that $30 is for (transportation costs? I don't know.), but it's a fraction of what you'd pay to attend the concert on your own, and set up all of the activities on your own.

While tourism in the area has gone up thanks to Japanese otaku wanting to go on a Hanasaku Iroha pilgrimage, I think they're hoping to tap into a secondary market by getting foreigners to tweet about it.

I'm not sure how I missed it the first time I read the article but I just realised nano.RIPE are performing.

THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR WHITE PEOPLE TO SEE nano.RIPE PERFORM LIVE WHICH I'M STILL NOT ELIGIBLE FOR.

God I hate this.

I'm a student in Japan, but I live in Tokyo. I think I'll have to pass. Sad
