First the Japanese defense force and now the fire department. While I do like looking at cute girls I am not feeling this idea of attracting volunteers by means of displaying cute female characters. Not very good to attract people who are most likely not going to share in, or develop a passion for, the idea of the cause the organization stands for. That could lead to potential problems down the path.

The characters themselves are okay but they are not that attractive personally. The character I find most attractive is the one between the character dress (sort of) like a priest and the one dress like a school girl. I guess the one with less close I suppose, but even then it's nothing to get excited over. I guess what it is is I don't sense much of a personality coming from the these characters. They feel hollow like I am just staring at shells.

Well its also the fact that these aren't the official character art...So are they using the likeness of the KanColle characters without the right permission? If so that could be a big problem... Also I agree Mutsu is the best of those depicted here...

This is actually an interesting test... After all, all "doujinshi" is copyright violation but usually ignored by the rights holders. Something like this, even if it's non-profit though, comes pretty far to crossing the boundary outside of the "doujinshi" world and into standard licensing territory. Perhaps they think it would be bad PR to go after some local volunteer fire dept. and so took the chance on it, either that or the dept. thought they were original characters or something.

That might explain why the characters felt hollow to me.
