Man, I'd kill for more female-lead mecha shows that aren't just mecha musume or magical-tech girls. Not that they're bad or anything, but they seemed to be shoe-horned to those types with plots similarly found in some mecha shows instead of just giving them a giant robot to pilot. I had a fine time with Lagrange, but it ultimately felt shaky on what it wants to be and did a lousy job balancing the light-hearted moments and the actual plot.

I asked Viz Media on Facebook about Kamogawa Days OVA and they said Namco Bandai has the option to release the OVA if they port the video game here. As you know, the OVA was included in the game in Japan.

Already seen the OVA. Pretty cool and I like it a lot.

But besides that.

The rating ... -facepalm- Take a look at the rating for Fate/Zero BD Vol. 1.

ANN, you are very terrible at doing ratings for anime. Beyond terrible. Period.

ANN isn't a singular hivemind. It has multiple reviewers with multiple, varying opinions

Or maybe, just maybe, not everyone feels the same way about shows as you do. It's a crazy thought, I know.

Perhaps you'd care to elaborate on why you're saying that? Seriously; I'd be interested in knowing, and it's apparently not as self-evident as you seem to think it is.

As others have pointed out, there were different reviewers in each case. Even though the first half of F/Z is the weaker half, I would still rate it significantly higher than this series.

(And in case you're not clear on this point, I was the one who wrote this review.)

Gundam fans such as myself have been pining for a female lead pilot for years. Hope it happens one day.

Isn't he pointing out that this show got a better rating than Fate/ZERO did, and that's why he's annoyed?

I wonder what's holding them back for doing so. Genre conventions? Supposed "traditions" to uphold?

Probably the fact that it's only the Western Gundam fans who openly want a female lead. Japanese otaku have never asked for a female lead in any meaningful way (as far as I know), so even if they were amenable to one - which I highly doubt - no-one would even know. And the producers are not going to risk their precious cash cow franchise on something that might make their sexist otaku fanbase scream and froth. Which is actually stupid because a lot of fujoshi bought Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny (for the shipping of pretty boys, you see), so women do watch and buy Gundam in significant numbers if there's something in it for them. A female lead wouldn't necessarily be a financial disaster. Unfortunately, instead of branching out to half the population the last two shows in the franchise have instead been aimed at children or young teens.
