I much preferred the game. Neptune was funny in the games, in the anime she was, kinda annoying.

This. I can't stand Neptune in the anime. Tbh i hate her more than everyone else in the cast which is terrible considering she is the main character........ But yeah this anime was probably the worst out of all the shows i watched this season hands down. Just seems like a real waste of potential. |

she's the exact same as she is in the game. Were both of you just used to her dub voice or something?

That would be Uni. (I'm guessing her name is from the Universal Media Disc, the main storage medium for the PSP she is based on.) While I still have to see how episode 12 pans out, it does seem to me that the second half of the series is somewhat more engaging than the first story-wise. In the longer run, I wonder if there could be room for a spinoff that made more use of the Makers? I'm not sure if they are popular enough to warrant their own stories, but a "Neptunia's Makers of G.U.I.L.D." (with apologies to Joss Whedon) could be a neat way to explore the world with more mid-level events taking place that would otherwise end up off-camera. |

seconded, the anime adaptation is one of the better executions of the source material overall this year of releases (for better or worst). To be annoyed with Neptune or any of the other characters begs to question if you were even playing the "same game" as it were. |

This is, hands down, the greatest adaption of a videogame since Super Robot Wars: The Inspector.
Its obvious that everyone involved in this production understood exactly what made the games great, and exactly how to improve on them. In pretty much every aspect the anime is vastly superior to the games, and I like the games a lot. They managed to meld the general setting and the plots of Mk.2 and Victory together absolutely flawlessly. Really though since the final episode airs today you should have just held off on the review for a week or so. |

Good review. This anime wasn't great, but it was entertaining and was a pretty good adaptation of the games, or at least the characters and themes. I was a bit disappointed at first, but i started enjoying it more in the later episodes. One thing though, i believe a similar scene with licking Ram and Rom also led to the Mk2 game being rated M, or something like that. Oh, and Neptunia getting a higher score than Haganai? What? different reviewers, I know, but still.

I never played the games so i wouldn't know. Just can't stand to hear her voice for some reason. Usually i don't say that about most japanese voice actors so this is a rare occurrence (not saying she is a bad voice actor it just isn't working for me). Perhaps her dubbed voice is better yah? |

The dub made her sound a bit more asshole-ish in V, then again that can be chalked up to V's questionable script at times. Though over all her dub voice makes her more sarcastic and very quick to crack a joke. |

That's a charitable rating from someone who seems to both hate the show and find it terrible. I certainly wouldn't have given it C+. Apart from the frankly weird angle I thought the review took regarding "fanservice as bad", I thought it was fair and did address the series' strengths and weaknesses well, though.

Out of curiosity I went to see the scores before reading the actual review (shame on me ) so when I saw "vile fan service" I thought they picked some reviewer who hated fan service show to do this review, which would have deserved a facepalm of epic proportions. But it seems it's not the case, just that the reviewer thought this particular brand of fan service was in bad taste. I can't judge as I haven't seen the anime yet, but I kinda liked Victory, so I'm going to check it out. Honestly, when I tried the Japanese demo, I was surprised by the gameplay, I sincerely thought the game relied entirely on fanservice. But the fights are genuinely fun. |

I pretty much just watch this show for cute, fanservice fun.

Well, reviews are subjective, and tentacle humor is certainly polarizing. Much in the way that the negative review on Gamespot (the reviewer was revolted by the fanservice humor) encouraged me to buy the game, I will definitely be checking this out. Thanks!

My mind wandered off sometime during the third episode and never returned to the show. Maybe it was trying to tell me something?
C+ is very kind from what I saw. "They represent home consoles. That one's Vega, there's Phony and there's 'Intendo and ABox." *Names were changed because it's bleeding obvious who they are!* So what? It's not a joke, it's not a premise, it's just a "thing". Not even a good "thing" as all the eras don't match up for a, uh, four way. This is an adaptation of a game, a video game. I have to know, what's the gameplay? Action adventure, dating sim first person platformer with real time strategy thinking "game"? Cut scenes interspersed by occasional button pressing? Nevermind, it's not important. In every meaning of the phrase. My overall feeling was this "game"/anime was that it's made by Sega fanboys who wanted a new Saturn or... Or... Dreamcast, yeah, that was it. Neptune? Ah, Uranus! They skipped a planet! But shouldn't she be Yume-something or something? Or were they worried no one would make the connection with a bad console? No, I just don't get the show. Dress it down, clean it up, add some context, add more context. Does it have context or do I have to play the game to understand why video game consoles play as magical girls while not playing video games in order to protect their status while they compete with each other... There goes my mind again. |
