Well, they're certainly more common. It's more the implications towards those who buy dakis that get people raising eyebrows.

Still, there's lots of random anime merchandise like this. Heck, I own a Nanoha shower curtain.

Interesting stuff. The LCL cake is just...wow.

I was sure #1 was going to be the infamous "Grave of the Fireflies" fruit drop candies Shocked , though.

How long have you been around the fandom? Hug pillows are old news.

Speaking of weird marketing campaigns, I'm sort of surprised Gargantia isn't listed on here with Bandai giving away a BD of the first two episodes for free. Hopefully that works out for them but it seems kind of crazy.

My reaction to the above:

Those hand puppets are adorable!

Quick question about the new poll, though... I don't see Yamato 2199 listed. Did that get pushed back? I thought it was premiering soon.

Technically it has already premiered. The first four episodes (which equates to the first movie, I believe) came out last year.

I actually decided to look up what the Hello Kitty Death card looks like and found it. It's...surprisingly cute. Also, it was on a list with much, much worse Hello Kitty items (WARNING, NSFW):

Those...last two items. Embarassed

The first 14 episodes are available on BD already. It's premiering as films in parts (episodes strung together), released as an OVA on BD presumably with OP, ED, and preview reattached, and will now finally air on TV. If you're a hardened criminal degenerate like me, you're better off just watching those current BDrips rather than wasting time on the guaranteed lower quality TVrips or streams.

I wonder what the expanded Western audience may look like, those who don't already follow and enjoy Yamato or Leijiverse related anime. MAL, for instance, only lists 993 people as following it thus far. Sterb Lazors just isn't popular here like it is Japan. Like that Rebirth Chapter film from a few years ago, only 426 people have it listed as seen on MAL, and less than 800 total. FUNi can try to market it as hard as they want, but they can't turn people into fans.
