I'm a little disappointed that the Z-Cune isn't all that durable. What self-respecting nerd wouldn't buy one to make his own cardboard armor and pretend to be the man delusional enough to break down all barriers? They also missed the opportunity to make a great cosplay prop. Oh, well...

A gun that transforms into a girl? Oh Japan, why am I not surprised in the least?

I can't wait for the review of DX Soul of Chogokin Mazinger Z. It's gonna be epic.

To be fair, I think it's the other way around, but I doubt it matters in the long run.

Also, I couldn't stand Akibaranger, primarily because I thought about the premise too hard (which is to say, I thought about the premise)

How is Akibaranger's premise any more ridiculous than the premise of a non-comedy Super Sentai show? At least with Akibaranger, the silly premise fits with the intentional silliness of the show, which makes fun of various cliches and quirks in Super Sentai series. The first episode even has lines like "That's right! The very concept of consistent power levels in Super Sentai, it doesn't exist!!"

BTW, isn't that first photo of Great Mazinger, not Mazinger Z?

That's exactly the Mazinger I thought you'd be reviewing. Looking forward to it!

Usually it's just not possible to say enough interesting stuff about them to meet the word count...

Just need to take the Mikatan method and ramble about soft hips.

On the other hand, it gives "trigger happy" a whole new meaning.

Here's the story, if ya wanna know: Laughing

  • For as long as he could remember, young Keisuke has been troubled by a strange phenomenon: he always seems to accidentally fall over on top of girls at the worst possible time, landing hands-first on their chest or face-first in their crotch.

One day, a magic angel name Ririi and her fairy friend Chappi descend from the heavens before Keisuke and reveal to him that he is in fact a legendary hero and these “accidents” were actually brought about as a result of a power that lay dormant in his groin.

Having been awakened to his fate, Keisuke feels an energy surge within him and suddenly a large black gun barrel arises from his crotch: the holy genital gun, Zetsurin Buster.

Keisuke must use the ”holy white water” of the Zetsurin Buster to cleanse the world of darkness and defeat the evil demon king.

However, to do this, he must rely on the help of Ririi to strip down naked and stroke the Zetsurin Buster’s barrel until it is fully charged and, when he’s ready to fire, pull the trigger.

If you think this is the most ridiculous concept for a manga you’ve ever heard, you’re not alone. Even the artist, Tomokichi, admits that it’s an idea that everyone’s thought about before, but no one has been dumb enough to actually try.

The first issue of Zetsurin! was released on November 30 and can be picked up from book stores around Akihabara or online from Amazon.jp or the Shogakukan website.

*Shrug* The crazy ecchi manga mentioned above notwithstanding, I don't find the Moe-Moe Z-Cune to be that much weirder than, say, Megatron.

Akibaranger poking fun at moe ... now that surprised me. I had thought that laughing at moe was more a thing of Western anime fans.
