I'd like to see if there's any noticeable rise in sales come October...

uh, what the hell are you talking about? PS Vita can play back PSP games but not UMDs. All we need is Monster Hunter or a very cool JRPG on Vita to get that selling in Japan. |

I'm pretty sure people who've physically bought their psp games aren't interested in rebuying their games on the playstation network just so they can play them on their vitas. So yeah, sony shot themselves in the proverbial foot once again. It's beyond me why they never want to make anything backwards compatible anymore I mean I get, more money, but people aren't stupid. They aren't just going to keep throwing their money at them when all of their competition isn't so brazen about bleeding them dry like doing something as simple as making a console successor backwards compatible to its predecessor. |

Actually they did offer a service to transfer PSP UMDs to Vita, but it was in Japan only. They said because the PSP is not as popular in the US so they saw no point in doing it here. The PSP is still releasing and selling hundreds of new games in Japan. In the US only 2 or so have been announced from now to March. It's basically dead in the US. And I think they're digital download only.
