I feel like we have to lure him out like a reluctant groundhog to see if he is ready to cast his shadow/continue to manga again, all the while knowing before too long he is going to creep right back into his hole.

I don't know if I want HunterxHunter to come back. The manga clearly ended on the last arc. The new arc (the "tree arc"? the "new world arc"?) has only seen a chapter or two. It's not too late for Togashi to finally admit he doesn't have the willpower to draw HunterxHunter anymore and just make the last arc the official ending.

Hiatus X Hiatus still does not return? The series could have ended where it left if it weren't the for the fact that Kurapica has disappeared for the last 17 volumes and his whole story arc never ended.

I agree .. I hope that now the arc Kurapika and Genei ryodan continues ....
