Is this going to be a trend now? Cause this is too expensive to be worth shipping to my country.

Never read the series, but I'm happy for the fans. Now if only someone would release Beck and Saiyuki....

In before complaints about how (Manga title here) was glossed over for an inferior OEL.

With RightStuf/Nozomi publishing the Aria anime, I wonder if it's possible that they'll license-rescue the Aria manga... The third time's the charm?
Though I'm afraid I've given up and just bought the whole series in Japanese.

I just hope the author gets paid for it.

Now they need to finish Future Diary. They were nearly finished!

I would literally weep tears of joy were this to happen.

Will this be happening more often to other Tokyopop series? I'm glad this author is able to finish the series, but it sucks it won't be on bookstore shelves. RightStuf needs an in-store manga division...
I just hope Sgt. Frog goes to another company like Yen Press, and I STILL can't believe I saw the day when Fruits Basket went OOP in the US.

Agreed. Aria's had pretty bad luck in terms of publishers, but it's a really really nice series that I adore.

Seeing as the artist seems only very happy with the news, I would assume she's getting her fair share. I went to see M. Alice LeGrow speak at A-kon a while ago and it seemed like she felt no ill-will towards Tokyopop--- kind of a rarity with their OEL creators. She also mentioned that she modified her contract with them before signing, giving her more rights.
I'd like it if they got Future Diary. All the volumes, not just the one or two left. I didn't get into the series until after the books were OOP, and since the series isn't even finished, I can't justify the expense.

Good news for fans of this manga, but I'm still waiting for licence rescues for Beck, Blame!, D.N.Angel, Gakuen Alice, King of Thorn, The Queen's Knight and Tramps Like Us among others. I'd also like to see some of TP's novel releases such as Kino's Journey and Good Witch of the West picked up by another company.

The author (Marty LeGrow) is actively involved in the release and is certainly being paid. It's nice to be able to finally bring out this last volume which closes out the current story.
I'm a little disappointed that you'd think that I'd be involved with anything where the author wasn't going to be paid.

It's rather complicated to wade through some of these rights issues for licensing. We're actively looking for things we can work on here, especially for series where the run wasn't complete.
