Before you even bring it up (in fact, before it's even posted). No, it's not news. Interest articles are not intended to be news.

After ANN started doing interest articles, a lot people would basically go, "must be a slow news day" or "what the hell is this" etc. Even though it's not supposed to be news |

Gotcha! It'll be funny to see what Justin has to say about it. |

Pikachu is native to Japan, so good luck on that search, guys.
Also, uh, it's a mouse, not a cat. That should help them more. |

Don't forget this annoying cat fever the internet always had. So it has to be a cat. |

So, who do I contact about potential evidence of animal abuse?

That was actually my first thought. However, the preview image of the behind-the-scenes video (to be uploaded tomorrow) makes it look like the colors were all digitally added. Which makes sense considering the group behind it. I hope I am right; dyeing animals is never a good idea. |

You aren't going to get far with that, dyeing pets is a pretty popular thing to do. Groomers do it all the time, even making strange and interesting themes. But yeah, this was done in After Effects, so all digital. |

Hearing a cat saying pika pika makes my skin crawl somehow...

It's illegal in Florida last time I checked. It is particularly dangerous when the dye used is not pet-designated, but even the for-pet stuff isn't without negative effects. With cats, I'd worry specifically about how it would affect their whiskers, and I have never been too keen on dye jobs that get close to the eyes. It's apparently much more popular in China and Japan to dye dogs, however, though maybe that trend has ended by now. |
