Please tell me that this not an actual reference to crossplayers who really do dress up like that. I think my very eyeballs would scream themselves hoarse if they ever had to gaze on Otaku looking like that.

I have seen a ton of Vincent from Catherine cosplay but fortunately nothing as horrendous as seen in this strip.

I haven't been to a convention since Catherine launched in the US, so I haven't seen anything like that, and I pray I never will. Seeing Manstys is bad enough.

Damn. Catherine still hasn't been released here in Europe yet. That sucks. Great strip though. Smile

I think it's a reference to Cosplayers who cosplay the latest hottest thing in order to receive unwarranted attention. Bonus points if that cosplayer hasn't even bothered to PLAY the game, or has reasonable knowledge of the backstory. No points if said cosplayer doesn't have the body for it. Eye Gouging freebie if said cosplayer is a hambeast.

Ah, the curse of cosplaying. Anyone can do it, whether or not they should be damned.

Strangely, at the only con I've ever been at, I saw very few bad/creepy cosplays.

Well it's either that or dressing up as sheep-men, and I think cosplayers want to possibly avoid being called furries at anime cons (though I would love to see someone pull off a sheep-man cosplay if only because of the detail they could put into it). XP

Sunday Silence, thank you for introducing me to the phrase "hambeast."

Hambeast?! LOL! Nice. In my circle we call such "hambeasts," creatures (may also be spelled with a K).

I entirely agree with your argument: there is some cosplay that should ONLY be done by professional models or people with the appropriate hotness or physique, doubly so if it requires men to be shirtless, or something scandalously tight, short or revealing on women (which oddly is damn near everything in cosplay for women).

I don't want to be "that guy," and I'm all for lover yourself as you are, having fun and being involved in the larger community, in cosplay or whatever, but... No. Just, no.

Reminds me of that Catherine release day, inside a store, a svelte teenage girl begging if they have the limited edition in stock, she would so wear that boxers. Laughing
