PLEASE don't be a compilation movie! Though I wonder what kind of plot you can make out of this for the big screen.

Please don't! I don't need any sequel to screw things up. Aren't the merchandise enough milking?

Woah, cool!! I'm betting it's a compilation movie with additional scenes like the recent Gurren Lagann films. Looks like SHAFT is starting to get into film production in earnest!

I think a big, wide silver screen offers a plethora of opportunities for broadening the story covered in the anime. |

I kinda predicted this, although I wish I written it down since it's sounds like I'm pulling it out of my arse.
The way I envision it, it will be a retelling from Homura's perspective, re-imagine the stories events and have a vastly different ending. |

If that image is actually related to the movie..it cant be a compilation unless they're changing some things..Homura never used a bow and she totally has a bow in that picture (not madoka's bow). hopefully they dont overmilk this

The original concept art had Homura with a bow. Also... spoiler[At the end of the series, she is using a bow to fight the Curses. So the concept art was actually a spoiler of sorts for the series. Which I actually found rather funny when it came to that point.] |

Seems Yaraon is now posting that the Newtype image is probably a fake:

I suppose I could forgive a compilation movie if:
1) They remake the already trippy scenes in 3D and don't screw it up. 2) Make it so awesome that it goes to mainstream theaters worldwide dubbed in at least a dozen languages. |

I have no doubts. I do NOT want it, plain and simple. There's nowhere to go from the already perfect ending. Not with these characters anyway. It's possible that I'm wrong and that this movie will at the very least not suck, but I'm not holding my breath. |

WOAH! Awesome man, though you could see this coming from a mile away.
Lots of possibilities here: prequel, sequel, compilation, manga adaptation, stand-alone story spoiler[Episode 10 expanded]. The series is one of my all time faves and I think it's fine on it's own, but with all the money it's making, a movie was unavoidable, so I'm going to be very cautiously optimistic until more details are out. Even if the movie turns out to be not that good that doesn't mean the integrity of the original show won't be tarnished. Kinda like M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender. Personally, I wouldn't mind a compilation movie a la Nanoha (note that I haven't seen the Nanoha movie). It would mess with the canon the least and offer up our favorite scenes in improved quality and maybe throw in some new ones. Either that or a side story starring mostly new characters, though I see that as kinda unlikely. I'd be wary of a direct sequel though, spoiler[I think ambiguous endings to be left alone.] Also, Yuki Kajiura better be composing this! |
