Okay, so, uh.... could you perhaps remove the BD 6 cover? That's a rather, uh, spoiler-ish image.... again, it probably won't matter for the majority of those that come to this news story, but still, I'm sure a few people, those that haven't seen the series all the way through, are going to be wondering what the deal with it is. Maybe... choose a different, new-ish yet not spoiler-ish image?
All that aside, it's rather interesting to hear this come out of Urobuchi himself! Considering how people will always expect grim-dark stuff out of him, though, it'd be rather funny if it turned out to really be the sort of show Shinbo would like: a sequel series that explores the daily moe lives of the characters, hah. Or maybe he could really decide to explore that new timeline/universe in the end, or even go into further detail about the circumstances that lead up to that "last" showdown Homura has with the demons. Though I don't think such extra details would be particularly necessary...
Just hope the script won't take 2-3 years to get animated like Madoka Magica apparently did, though. And I hope it won't come out feeling too redundant, either.
EDIT: Fine, fine, I guess I "overreacted" about the whole BD 6 cover. Madoka newbies, if you're here, you're not really being spoiled.

Good to know. The first season rocked, I would definitely be interested in more.

That's only "spoiler-ish" for people who watched the whole thing.
For everyone else, it's just a pretty illustration.

Yeah, making people wonder isn't really the same as spoiling.
I suppose it's possible to do a direct sequel if someone made a pact that involved wishing Madoka back into existence. I've watched enough Doctor Who and Steins;Gate to know characters aren't so easily erased from time.

With the disc sales this had, there has to a lot of pressure to try for even a partial repeat of that success.

I haven't even watched the series so I am not sure how the BD cover is spoilerish. Can honestly say I don't know what the image is suppose to mean if you consider it a spoiler. O_o
Just looks like a pretty illustration to me. ^^

My feelings on this are basically that even though I understand the show's success has probably created some pressure/desire to milk the cow, I'm highly skeptical of the ability of any Madoka prequels/sequels/spin-offs to really be as engaging as the original--we've already got those uninteresting (to me) manga, for example. I think there's more to Madoka than the subversion, and the writing has merit beyond the shock value, but still, I think it'd be impossible, even for Gen, to write another Madoka story as gripping as the original, precisely because of how the original series uses said subversion of expectations and the audience will already know most of the rules.
I guess it's like Star Wars, though... extra content that doesn't live up to the original won't detract from my enjoyment of the original, so while I'm not really waiting with bated breath (all my bated breath is currently being directed at my production note preorder which should get here next month), it's not like I'm actively opposed to more stories. Who knows, maybe they can come up with something even a skeptical fan like myself could enjoy without reservation? That'd be great.

Well with that whole Madoka becoming a god and saving all the magical girls twist there at the end, it pretty much does leave the series open to go in any direction it pleases
They could easily toy with multi-genre series too, a slice of life series, mystery, romance, etc...
...But at some point, again because of that ending the series is going to inevitably return to a grimdark tone. After all it was NEVER implied by any means that Madoka's wish was an end all be all solution to the problem. Granted we did see Madoka's 'witch' come into existence because of the strength of her wish and while she did 'cancel' it out by purging it from existence, that did leave a gigantic imbalance left within the world.
There's still 'way' too much left unsaid and unexplained for the series to just end as it does, if only because this is a series kinda geared around theories of metaphysics and a universal energy flow.

Well I'd like more, but only once I've cracked the ending. I don't fully get it. Well I get it, but actually I don't.

The BD 6 cover isn't "too spoilerish". That form of Madoka appears in the OP animation, after all. Without seeing the finale, someone reading the article wouldn't pick up on the "spoiler" at all.
This is exciting news! I hope another season gets made, I'm sure there's more that can be done with this world than was covered in 12 episodes.

Their really is no point. The story finished so adding other stuff is just boring.
