Oh great, the MC looks like another Shinn Asuka all over again .... I hope I'm wrong...
And the one girl with Dat Hair looks awesome, which means she's gonna die or have something else really bad happen to her within the first half of the game. Because Japan never allows strong female leads |

Unless it's fanservice and more action then your opinion is voided |

Honestly the idea of what constitutes as a "strong female character" has become so incredibly contorted and twisted that I really don't take such accusations seriously anymore... |

-what, in terms of appearance? That doesn't mean anything. The trailer doesn't show him acting like a rude, ignorant, whiny little brat who sucks at life the way Shinn did, so I'm not too worried. Besides, Luke (Tales of the Abyss) started off that way, and then went through one of the biggest character developments ever in video games, so I'm confident they know what they're doing -Say what? Aside from spoiler[Collette and (arguably) Estelle], all the main girls in Tales of Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia remained strong female characters and not "damsels in distress" or "the load" (heck, the latter would apply more to Karol, a guy, for most of Vesperia than any of the girls). |

You mean America, not Japan. Japan has tons of good female leads.
So true. That's why I'm thankful Japan doesn't listen to them and keeps doing what they want to do. The minute they start listening to people is when we get boring stuffy 'Hollywood action girl' stereotypes and less crazy and awesome girls like Sailor Moon or Cutey Honey. Though I disagree about Collette. Granted, I haven't played Symphonia since it first came out, but the fact she spoiler[knew she would die after she completed her pilgrimage, yet kept going strong even after all her senses started fading away from her] made me admire her. Symphonia was one of my least favorites though, so I don't recall too much in depth about the story. I'd personally pick Meredy (and to a lesser extent, Farrah) from Eternia as my favorite female Tales leads. |
