...Yeah, does anyone play Yu-Gi-Oh anymore? XDDD No, I mean does a little coloration difference make a difference? Do kids get disqualified from tournaments because their cards were counterfeit? And if it's from the company itself, how is it counterfeit?! D

I can't wait till this whole mess with Yugioh is over, so I can't read the book on this whole mess. Seriously everything revolved around this cartoon is just becoming hilariously silly at this point and entertaining more and more every
time any thing new comes out about any of the few lawsuits going on about the anime.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is actually still one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, card games in the world.(it's actually bigger than Magic in several parts of the world) I don't quite understand why they would make counterfeits of their own product (if I'm reading this right, they were still the licensed distributors when they were making coiunterfeits), but there is a significant difference between fake cards and real ones.
It's surprising how much controversy Yu-Gi-Oh! seems to have in the U.S., with this and 4Kids being sued over a breach of contract with the anime series.

Yeah... how many studios do you think are waiting in the wings to make this into a movie? Presuming they can sort out the rights issues to not get sued themselves, I mean.

That's what I dont get either, how is that even possible? DO they really mean they didn't do proper quality control or what?

If I recall correctly, Konami had granted to Upper Deck the rights to distribute Yu-Gi-Oh cards in the US, but Upper Deck had to buy the cards from Konami. It was alleged that Upper Deck had arranged to have some rare cards printed by a third party, for use in a promotion. According to a document that was linked to from here some months back, further details are under dispute as to whether they are disputed or not.

I actually read a ruling pdf on the internet, and it was pretty damn convincing that Upper Deck made up the promotion angle later, especially when they shipped a bunch of the counterfeits to a Toys-R-Us in Arizona or something. You know with deleting all mentions of the files on the internal serves when they where caught and whatnot. And I'm pretty sure that the court ruled in Konami's favor.
