I'd be amused if a somone bought it, hoping it would actually work it.

Or run around with it and yelling "Tetsuo" at the top of their lungs.

I thought it was kinda funny that they had to say it was non-firing. As if someone thought they could get a portable LASER CANNON for a grand.
We all know they go for two, three TOPS!

I would totally do that!! But I don't have a grand to spend it on a non-firing Laser Gun lol

You know,I always thought the design of the Akira laser was simple enough that you could build one your self using PVC piping and other off the shelf materials.

It's not worth spending $1,000 for a poorly researched prop. Front barrel is too short and other critical details are lacking. It looks like a well painted fan-made prop, not a professional grade prop.

I'd only pay $1000 for it if it was a fully functional, firing model. Otherwise it's just not worth it for something that doesn't even look very good.

PVC Pipe and plywood would get the same affect for less than $200.
And anyone can say; "Hey this was made by (insert name)!"

Hard to believe it was done by a professional prop maker. Lots of detail inconsistensies (scope seems ALL wrong, and front barrel seems far to long compared to its inspiration).
Don't get me wrong. Thing does LOOK cool. Just not really a 'replica' to me.. more of an 'inspired by' type of deal. And definitely not worth 1k IMO.
