Ok, I'm all for Eva, AKIRA, and Shin Megami Tensei officially becoming part of Japanese culture.

Heh, the dollar is disappearing faster than we thought! Laughing
Should be about $143 million.

Unless it's just gonna be like the Library of Congress, better leave it to the private sector.

My thoughts as well. Almost nothing good comes out of government involvement, especially selective cultural promotion.

And especially if someone put Ishihara in charge of the selection panel.

(Somebody had to say it!)

I'm guessing Pokemon will be making it into the museum, since it is pretty recognizable.

@siradix

The 150 original ones maybe, but as of a couple of years the little pests have been going all over and things like "culture" and "originality" most likely are the least important factors going trough the designer's heads during conception.

If those are not factors taken into consideration then yeah, they will have to reserve a separate building just for Pokemon, and in which case, I look forward to the pavilion of mindless harem ecchi they will build! It will probably be right next to the indistinguishable moe-blob room right past the "seitokai" romance one.

@albanian

All they would preserve if that was the case would be old rape/incest novels, awe and behold, most of them written by Ishirara-sensei! The rest of the anime/manga/games wouldn't be banned out right mind you, but the lights would have to be turned off 24/7 on the room they are in.
