They should add Beelzebub to that anime list. They edit any scene that has thugs beat up on the ground and replaces them with smoke and wavy lines. Which kinda sucks since like 90% of that series consists of the main character beating people up.

Didn't Beelzebub air Saturday/Sunday morning? Are you sure it had anything to do with the earthquake?
It didn't really bother me. Deadman Wonderland still had lots of violence. Don't think anything was removed because of the earthquake.

Yeah, it's kind of unfortunate to hear all the self-restraint on kids anime. The kids especially would be worried sick about such a life-changing event that they can barely understand; let them watch some of their weekly shows if it helps them cope and get through such a difficult time. The quake relief is important, but no one would want these kids to grow up traumatized...

Actually in the manga the disaster was referred to as the great earthquake (unless I'm mistaken) whereas they keep calling it a hole in the anime.

They only made those edits AFTER the earthquake and tsunami happened. Supposedly they do it because they resemble dead bodies when they are lying unconscious and piled up after Oga kicks their butts. It's also the reason they switched to the second opening so early. There was a specific scene where Oga was standing on top of a mountain of unconscious bodies and laughing.
It's BECAUSE it airs on weekend mornings that they probably did it.

Quote: | Some news programs recommended that people in electricity-conserving areas dine out; the reasoning goes that restaurants are more energy-efficient at cooking meals for customers than if the same customers were to cook at home individually. |
I'm not so sure about this part. In some restaurants you turn on the cookers in the morning and don't turn them off until you close for the night, whether you've got something on them or not - especially the ovens. At home you tend to turn them on and off as needed, which I'm thinking may be a little more efficient.

Well, don't feel down, the anime of Beelzebub sucks anyway. It's actually surprising that they removed something when they keep adding so much repetitive crap.

Yeah, the Beelzebub anime isn't too great. Repetitive gags that AREN'T funny, the pacing of a snail and missed opportunities in the fillers. The editing is helping, but it's the least of the anime's worries.
Now Deadman Wonderland has a problem. It's whole story revolves around an earthquake that triggered disaster and other fun stuff.

That is your opinion Egoist, I certainly enjoy the series. Pretty sure others do as well. At least it's not depressing or overly violent like some series.
Anyway, with the edits, well there isn't much that can be done about them now that they have happened, but I have never been a fan of censorship in anime.

Come on, don't be so polite. After that electric shaver discussion we should be close enough to start insulting each other!
I really want/wanted to like Beelzebub. But the thing keeps failing to go above mediocre. It has the potential, and when I just thought it would, it goes back to the same old repetitive gags. I'm specifically talking about electrification and the gay old man. They just repeat it over and over. When was the last time they introduced a bunch of new gags? Ages ago, back when the queen appeared. And now even the queen became an old gag given her minor appearances. Oh, if I could speak to whoever directs this in person.

It really would be a shame to see Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 disappear in the wake all of this. That anime deserves to be seen by more people.

If I'm reading it correctly, people want self-restraint on some sports and games/arcade games? I don't know, I feel as though we shouldn't have self-restraint on entertainment stuff like that. It can help with escapism for some.

If this happened in Canada or the U.S. the poll results would be closer to 50% on EVERYTHING. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that most of the Japanese have their priorities straight.

You're not reading correctly. Pachinko has a lot to do with energy waste because the machines never go off, and sports, which you're most likely basing on marine sports, have a lot to do with the tsunami.

So what they mean is using up energy in being self-restraint and not the actual theme of censoring/downplaying entertainment and other activities?
