I cry foul. I personally enjoyed Kimi ni Todoke and Belzebub is okay... I guess. But only a 52% on Madoka Magica?
I'm wondering if the people responding gave up after the first couple of episodes, that's the only explanation I can come up with. |

Although people have different tastes... I cannot agree with Beelzebub up there, the whole show's comedy feels repetitive, we're looking at you, electrocution. While it has several decent jokes, I found the comedy to be lacking, cue the action arcs please!
Reread the article as I was typing this, this poll was taken in February, the time period when most shows were in their Episode 6 slots. I still don't think Beelzebub deserves #2 spot. |

What suprises me is that Yumekui Merry is at the bottom. It's not the best of the season, but it's definitely not the worst.

Well, there were more than just 10 anime shown this season, so it being 10th would not indicate that it's the worst at all. Personally I think Mitsudomoe is getting the short end of the stick, but I also recognize that its humor isn't for everyone. |

Not to offend anyone who watches Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season, with all due respect, in my my opinion Beelzebub is a exceptional series and more than worthy of second place. Easily the greatest (new) series I watched since Arakawa Under The Bridge (season one and two) in terms of both comedy and action.
That said, I would have liked to see it in the number 1 slot, but I am satisfied with the number two slot. It's been an interesting season of anime this year I look forward to the summer anime. Wouldn't mind seeing Beelzebub licensed one day, I have a feeling Funimation (and maybe even Viz Media? There is even a chance Media Blasters could make this series work as well.) could do wonders for this series and undoubtedly would probably be extremely fun to watch. |

If I were to the pick the top 3 - not in any specific order, it will be:
Kimi ni Todoke Madoka Magica Wandering Son I tend to look for series that has good story, original world building, and interesting characters that you can feel for (both tragically or happily). Random internet poll tells us nothing about the quality of the shows. Real statistics and critical reviews speak more. Beelzebub may be "popular"; however, it cannot beat Madoka Magica BD reservations figures and Wandering Son critical acclaims. MM even got honorable mentions by a Japanese politician. Be proud for being a fan with good taste. Last edited by scchan on Thu Mar 31, 2011 12:15 am; edited 2 times in total |

Onii-chan no koto "better" than Kore Wa Zombie. Shenanigans!

Heh, don't worry. Madoka Magica is bound to sell (judging by its dominance on the amazon top 100 BD sales, and just a few days ago it had all 5 currently solicited volumes in rank #1-5) far more copies than either of those two. It and Infinite Stratos are going to have some amazing sales, though Madoka still could be way ahead of IS. Time will tell. |

Current BD reservation figures for Madoka is posed to break the record set by Bakemonogatari. Shaft shafted its own all-time Shaft record, literally. |

I actually enjoyed Onii-chan no Koto SO much more than Zombie Desu Ka. Sure the erotic parts in Onii-chan may have been a bit over done, but I still found the show entertaining. Anyway, I'm sad to see that Madoka placed 4th. It should at least be in the top 3. But eh, this is just my opinion after all. |

That's a good point. Still, I agree with him, I too think Yumekui Merry should be higher among these shows especially as it continued, I think it's been one of the better shows of the season. |

The reason that Kimi ni Todoke + Level E + Beelzebub gets more voting is obvious; among those voters, it is bound to have fans who only read manga without even watching the animation. Above three are all mainstream mangas, when MadoMagi is just animation original with Mahou Shoujo theme. Regardless of how groundbreaking Madoka Magica is, it is pretty hard to beat those three when they already have much larger-major fanbase.
Still, I place Madoka Magica above anything that aired this season. |

I guess it depends what type of people typically go to this goo site. Much as I love Madoka for its godly pacing and writing you have to admit that its pretty dark and only really "enjoyable" in a carthartic sense.

Who didn't love Kimi ni Todoke, honestly? I cried this last episode.
I personally enjoyed Wandering Son more than anything but I generally agree with the list on popularity. Madoka really should have gotten a higher rating with the popularity it's received. |
