I picked up the first 2 volumes of Twin Spica because of Ed Sizemore's recommendation and they were fantastic. Very bittersweet, and I have to admit I teared up with both volumes. I can't wait to get more.
Always a fan of Cross Game, glad to see volume 3 still getting great reviews.

The more I read about it, the more I know I need to check out Cross Game at some point, even if it is about baseball.
PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA really is making waves. I really hope we get the manga licensed, as well as the anime.
Also, excellent reader's choice review by Eva Lopez, I think I might have heard about this series in the past but now it's definitely on my to-read list (which, as I always lament, is VERY long).

Need to catch up on Twin Spica. Only read volume one so far. Have volume four on standby while I look for two and three locally. Might have to order them in.

I got to say I also recommend bunny drop. I am a sucker for father/daughter stories and this one tugs at my heartstrings. I have vol. 3 arriving in the mail can't wait to read it. Cross Game I watched before it was properly licensed . But I will pick up the box set if it ever comes out.

I want Itsuwaribito! It's weird that volume 2 apparently ends in the middle of dialogue. I read in a SBS (One Piece) corner that Oda plans his chapters for each arc so that it'll fit nicely in volume format, and sometimes adds extra chapters to a volume so that things don't break off abruptly (that's why some volumes are thicker than others).

Bunny Drop Vol. 3 comes out today. Perfect timing for that review.
And of course, it's out of stock everywhere except [expletive] Owings Mills. GODDAMN I HATE BALTIMORE!

I don't think the art in the Madoka manga is that bad. You have to keep in mind Hano the mangaka for it, was just a person drawing dōjinshi before they ended up landing a gig drawing the manga for Madoka.
Really if you read his group's past dōjinshi it's pretty good, and none of it is h-related.

I'm not a big fan of sports series, but I keep hearing such great things about Cross Game that I might just have to check it out. Question is, do I pick up the manga or try watching the anime?
Also, another good review for Twin Spica. Will have to pick this up next time TRSI has a sale. Vertical just keeps putting out such awesome titles.

I'd say if you were more of a manga reader then read the manga. If you are more of an anime watcher then watch the anime. They both tell pretty much the exact same thing, so you might as well watch/read it in the medium you prefer.

After having watched all the available episodes of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, I read the scans of the first volume, and I think I kinda have to agree with this review. While the first volume is certainly faithful to the first four episodes of the series (it seems that each chapter will roughly correspond with each anime episode), it is so to a fault, and more obviously pales compared to the show as a result (though that's pretty sweet if this was the doujin group's first big official gig-- kudos to them).
It hasn't just been the writing/story of the show that's gotten me so invested in Madoka, but also the Kaijura music and the outstanding art direction of SHAFT and the animation duo Gekidan Inu Curry (who designed the witches). Here, it was converted to a black-and-white version (the anime is so colorful!) that tells the exact same story with more generic background art out while losing some of the anime-specific nuances. Overall, it read as a visual, lengthy summary of the episodes, and doesn't leave as pleasant a taste in my mouth as the anime. Perhaps the quality inherent in the manga version is to expected, since it is already based off a high quality work in the significantly more expensive anime medium, but I still can't shake this sense of dissatisfaction. I'll probably get to the other two volumes sometime down the road-- but only if I want to see Madoka on the printed page, or remind myself of past events in the series.

Man, I hate being the one person who cannot get into Cross Game, I read the first two omnibuses of it (or 5 volumes) and it's just done nothing for me It rather disappointed me.
Twin Spica is still awesome though, I'd seen the anime ages ago but had no idea just how inferior it was to the manga until I read it. And vol 6 gets out of where the anime adaptation ended so for me it's like "new stuff finally woohoo!" although most of the side stuff had been new too.
