At least put subtitles on those videos. Not all of us know Japanese.

And why would they ban people from passing out flyers?

They're video clips from Japanese news stations aimed at Japanese speakers, why would they be subtitled?

Edit: If the 'ANN News' logo is the confusing bit, it refers to TV Asahi's news network, not this site.

The rules seem a bit... I dunno... Extreme. I don't see how handing out fliers could be so harmful.

These videos likely don't belong to ANN so it's their responsibility to subtitle videos simply because you can't understand them. That is up to you, not ANN.

I don't know about you, but 98% of the time, anytime I am handed a flier, I usually recycle it and to be frank, I wish that was enforced in the US as well.

What no tissues damn that is lame. I loved those tissues, since most restaurants have a lack of napkins 0_0. Who else doesn't want free kleenex?

They should give out free condoms with ads instead. Laughing

When I was in Akiba back in 2007, they seemed reluctant, or maybe it was surprise, to give me the tissues. If they were reluctant, I can understand it though. It's not like I could read what was on them, and other than blind chance, very unlikely that I'd visit their place of business. Also, I can't recall there being a lot of car traffic when I was there, and I'm fairly certain it wasn't on the weekend.

Too bad most Otaku wouldn't know how to use them.

As long as Akiharaba still sells Anime figures I'm perfectly fine with these rules. Except if they no longer allow photo sessions that means I'll be out of luck if I were to cosplay as a Sentai Ranger and no one would be able to take my picture. Looks like I'll sadly exclude my plans to cosplay as "Big One" from "J.A.K.Q." the next time I'm in Akiharaba for my second trip to Japan(when it's officially planned).

With new security messures lets hope no idiot tries to do something that'll ruin that pedestrian paradise event.

It is good to hear that the AKIBA walk is back again. Time will only tell when the cosplay activities will also be restored.

I was living in Tokyo when the 2008 killing occurred. It was pretty touching seeing people bring offerings to the memorial. I offered Pringles and Guava juice. A lot of people also offered rice balls to the departed.

Time will tell if you can do Para Para on Chuo Dori (street) again.

The new restrictions are utter rubbish and yet another example of how the Government (in this case local) likes to go overboard with blanket fixes and doesnt address specific issues.

The 'no performing' regulation also includes 'no posing' on the main strip. Doesnt matter if you are a cosplayer or a tourist - if you pause to have your photo taken security will swoop in. Getting your picture taken in the middle of the strip is really THE iconic shot for tourists to Akiba. Moreover, this means that there will be no more street karaoke or random cosplayers - in other words its a shell of what the Akiba strip used to be.
I can only hope they will ease up on these restrictions over time.
