Zune Marketplace = Xbox Live Video Marketplace. MS renamed it a little while back.

This is a rather curious development considering that it was only a few months ago that CR disabled the downloading of their anime licenses on their own website. Maybe outsourcing to a bigger company will make DTO more viable to them?
In that case, perhaps they'll start looking to Amazon or iTunes if this venture does good enough.

If they put Natsu no Arashi, you can bet your ass I'd buy it in an instant. Cool

(...I get the feeling it'll never be licensed for DVD distribution in the U.S. Confused )

Interesting, but I'd rather just stream it since I'm already a member. I'd be tempted to buy on-demmand disc authoring for certain shows though. I don't think anyone will bring Erin over anytime soon but I'd happily buy a DVD, AVCHD or WMV/MP4 on a disc if it came with a nice little case and all of t hat jazz.

DRM sucks, but rights owners often insist on it ... using an existing marketplace taps a market of people who've already crossed the threshold on the suckiness of the particular DRM in use.

This is good. I'll have to check whether this is happening in U.K/EU. If so, I'll have to sign up for some crunchyroll.

Not rocket science and its a similar target demographic, so why not?

*raises hand* Happy Zune HD owner right over here. Switched from an iPod and wouldn't go back if you paid me to.
