I believe you're about 10 years off with that sequel. Still, I liked Lodoss when I first got the OVA a few years ago after seeing the TV series on Toonami's Jetstream. (God I feel old just saying that)

Trust me, I feel old remembering the original Toonami station. I remember the actual opening sequence as well.

But Record of Lodoss War is quite an old series, I wonder if the series will still sell in today's market? If I remember correctly, Chrispin Freeman was involved in this series as well.

I might check this series out eventually one day.

I'd be curious to hear if Justin had any interactions with or stories of this series from his CPM days.

The OVA is pure excellence. Very nice surprise. It's almost enough to make up for all the rotten new licenses they've chosen this year. Good to know MB hasn't entirely forgotten the good stuff.

Oh god, Record of Lodoss War TV. The series with the intro so beautiful it almost tricks you into actually watching the show itself.

Wasn't there two more series that were set in the same timeline as Lodoss? I want to say Louie the Rune Soldier was one of them but I can't seem to remember the other one.

Haha! So true! I believe it's Yoko Kanno no less!

Love the original Lodoss OVA, but the TV series was ONLY tolerable by watching it in Japanese, and that's a rarity from me.

Been there, been tricked by that...watched two of the tapes out of order and never noticed until I looked at the boxes...

There's Legend of Crystania, a title that had both a movie (apparently out of print) and a 4 episode OVA series (edit note: yeah, it's not 13 episodes. My mistake). The series was put out in a cheap collection in 2008 by ADV / Section 23. It apparently takes place long after the TV series and doesn't have much connection to Lodoss besides Pirotess' presence and a plot point having to do with Ashram. No idea whether it's any good.

Even then, to me it's admittedly a stretch even for really dedicated fantasy fans. It really feels like some RPG at times, and Spark was never a suitable replacement for Parn. About the only character that actually gained ground in the series compared to the OVA was Ashram.

The opening is very good stuff, though, it's true.

Ever since the OVA aired on the FUNimation Channel, I have wanted to pick it up and now I can. Maybe I'll check the TV series as well.

It's nice to see some anime get rescued that actually need it. I heard about this a few weeks back and have been awaiting official confirmation, so it's good to finally have it. I eagerly await the solicitation MB. It's good to see my money going to R1's besides Sentai and Nozomi.

I believe you mean Yoko Kanno AND Maaya Sakamoto. It's still my #1 favorite anime opening, after all these years...even if Zac is totally correct about the show, haha.
