Now thats cool! Luffy would look better without the coat but I like what he's wearing. Go Oda! I'm so happy to see him succeed. I wonder where I can get a copy of this...

That is.... unique. Though I guess Marge Simpson was on the cover of Playboy... I wonder if a new trend is starting?

Not only does this sound humorously awesome (much like the series) but i'm incredibly interested to see who they got that looks like Usopp.
Where are they going to find that nose? |

It's not that strange when you realize it's the same company behind the production of the Strong World movie. Even then fashion magazines cover tend to cover things beyond fashion.
I think it's a really cool idea. The one piece characters have a fun sense of style. It was probably a lot of fun to translate that to fashion magazine spread. |

I'd be interested to know the opinion of the regular viewers of the magazine, specifically those that are not anime/manga fans. This may or may not be a failure on the magazine's part. Maybe there is a large enough segment of the demographics of the magazine that consist of anime/manga fans?

This is so cool! I can't believe that they're doing this in a non-anime magazine. I also wonder where I could get a copy of this or at least see the picture spread.
And I'd also like to know the opinon of non-anime/manga fans in Japan; what's their take on a fashion magazine sporting Monkey D. Luffy, the future Pirate King? |

...That's interesting, to say the least.
Just goes to show how much coverage Strong World is getting I guess. |

From what I understand, One Piece is one of those relatively rare anime/manga properties in Japan whose popularity extends beyond the usual fans of those media to the general population as a whole. This would seem to be backed up by the fact that the anime consistently places in the top few every week in Japanese TV ratings listings, right up there with such stalwarts as Shin-chan, Sazae-san, and Doraemon. The manga's probably even more popular, considering its yearly sales numbers and the massive print run its most recent volume is receiving. It's pretty much the biggest manga title period in Japan. That aside, seeing Luffy plastered on the front of a fashion magazine amuses me to no end. |

and Based on Oricon's latest 6-month chart. OP is rank as morst poplar manga in all male demographic between 11-20, 21-30, and 31-40 population. So it really isn't that big of a gamble to take.

This is interesting news. The characters of One Piece are definilty stylish in a unique sense. Luffy looks good in that outfit. That could be a new look for him.
