I don't think that anyone may be so shocked that no one wants 4Kids' stuff.

I think what I'm most shocked by is this NFL customizable trading card game with a playing system similar to Chaotic.

Um... what?

if they were smart they'd bring in a fresh new anime instead of dwelling on old almost cookie cutter types like kirby and sonic and dinosaur king.

Looks like it won't be long until 4Kids buy the farm... I know it's a sad way to put it, but we're dealing with a horrific economy.

The Chaotic series isn't doing well, so let's create an NFL trading card game based off of it?! What kind of strategy is that?

You'll notice they said Dinosaur King is doing well for them in Europe, NOT here.

Seriously, their profits were in Pokemon. THAT's where they made their cash. They lost the rights and that's when they started to tumble (or maybe it was after Yu-gi-oh profits started to fall?).

I wish they would still air the Yugioh 5Ds dub and not keep us waiting. If they still had Pokemon (intended to sound as a insult to Pokemon USA), they might have some better financial news. As much as 4Kids is crap (that's putting it mildly), they are the one that introduced anime to many people.

I am actually kinda happy over this news. The only reason it's kinda happy instead of happy is anime in the U.S. might suffer overall if they go under but other then that they are a shitty dub company that ruins animes. Not airing 5ds is also retarded imo it will likely hurt sales of current card sets because kids won't have seen the new cards on the show like they always have before. I don't see why they can't just air both on Saturdays is a one hour block for yugioh that unprofitable? Or at least air 5ds on cartoon network at a decent pace to try to catch up to where they should be to match set releases.

To clarify, the NFL TCG isn't going to be based of Chaotic, but rather use technology of the Chaotic TCG (ie, printing alphanumeric codes on cards so they can be uploaded to the Internet).

Something that wasn't mentioned in this writeup is that SEGA is producing a new season of Dinosaur King and that 4Kids is already selling it to the European markets. It'll likely show up here in the U.S. at some point too.

An NFL TCG...?

"Ha ha!!! I attack your Pac-Man Jones offensive with my Joe Montana! And that's not all! I equip him with...MONTANA MAGIC!!! I've turned over your offensive and head straight for a 50-yard touchdown!!! YOU LOSE!!!"

Yeah, real entertaining. Rolling Eyes

So wait. They've decided to cancel 5D's in favor of Yu-Gi-Oh! reruns?

...Yeah, 4Kids has no freakin' idea what it's doing. I mean, we've been saying that for years, but now it's pretty much obvious they're clutching at straws.

Can't say anything on the TGC, as I've never played it, but don't dismiss something just because it's a card game.

Years ago, a friend introduced me to another NFL card game in which you set up offensive/defensive plays by picking cards to play. It became addictive. I believe the game was given away by Sports Illustrated with a subscription.

I can't recall the name of the game, but I sure do wish I had it.

Oh, and I'll challenge your Joe Montana play with the ref card "Holding - Offense". Bring that ball back to the line of scrimmage.

Offensive holding should be a 10 yard penalty.

Scary, scary words for anime fans.

Let's hope they are keeping with series they can handle, and stay away from the ones they can't.

Looks like they are finally dispersing. I think it really does go to show that with 4Kids, there really is such a thing as negative press.

I wonder if these results include the money they got from Nickelodeon for the Ninja Turtles? If so, then their actual loss may be quite a bit more. But considering that deal didn't get completed until the end of October, it will probably be reflected in next quarter's results.
